The
Harbour Authority Committee welcomes all visitors to the communities
of Port de Grave and in particular the Port de Grave Harbour and
the Morgan & Hawe Memorial Building, which is a community
information center. Thousands of visitors drop in the building
to take a look at the boats in the harbour and to learn about
many activities relating to the fishing industry.
The
Harbour Authority Committee is very proud of the Morgan &
Hawe Memorial Building from which all harbour business is transacted.
From this building, the Harbour Supervisor operates the 50 computerized
electrical outlets, 2 - 7.5 horsepower salt water wash down pumps,
freshwater hoses and the lights around the harbour. The Harbour
Authority provides a weekly garbage collection and a waste disposal
tank.
The
Port de Grave Harbour has two finger piers, a marginal wharf,
Fishermen's centre wharf, Hussey's Cove wharf, twelve floating
docks with 26 electrical outlets, at Ship Cove the marginal and
finger pier where Daley Brothers are located.
The
Port de Grave Harbour is currently home to approximately 106 fishing
and recreational boats plus outside boats from Bay Roberts, Clarke's
Beach, Spaniard's Bay, Upper Island Cove, and Portugal Cove. During
the crab and shrimp seasons, accommodate boats from various areas
of the island who sell their catch to either one of the five off
loading companies (buyers), Daley Brothers, Grand Atlantic Seafoods
Incorporated, P Janes & Sons, Tors Cove Fisheries and the
Barry Group.
