Avondale - Avondale Railway & Community Museums - Old Railway Station, Tel: 368-8268. The building itself,
over 100 years old, has been declared a Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of NL. A five-car static train
display contains an operating dining and cook car. A mini-train is also in operation, offering visitors the chance to

involved in Peary's North Pole expeditions and commanded the Karluk in the
Canadian Arctic Expedition (1913-14). Both the historical significance of Bartlett's work and the architectural quality of Hawthorne Cottage have been recognized by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.
