Anderson's Cove, near New Harbour - Maritime Archaic Indians (3200-5000 years ago) - A site where artifacts were found from the Maritime Archaic Indians, the first known people to live in Newfoundland. Blaketown - Russell's Point - Beothuk and Recent Indian Site (Starting about 1000 years ago and lasting until the 17th century) - Beothuk and Recent Indian (ancestors of the Beothuk) Caribou hunting site - 23 major
features and 1226 artifacts were recovered. Site not currently active. Artifacts can be viewed at the Dildo and Area Interpretation Centre and the Whaling & Sealing Museum South Dildo. Tel: 582-3339 Off Season 582-2687

Cupids - John Guy's Colonists (Early 17th century) - Ongoing excavations at Cupids since 1995 have uncovered a number of buildings, related features and over 110,000 artifacts. The site is open daily while the dig is in progress. Information can be obtained at the Cupids Museum where a number of artifacts are on display. In 2006, the Cupids dig was designated one of the ”Top Ten Active Archaeological Sites in Canada" by The Beaver, ‘ Canada’s History Magazine’ Tel:528-3500

Dildo Island - Dorset Eskimo and Recent Indian Sites (Starting almost 2000 years ago) - A site inhabited by Dorset Eskimo people from the Arctic between AD 100 and AD 750, inhabited by ancestors of the Beothuk
between AD 720 and AD 960, and inhabited by Beothuk when colonists arrived in 1612. Historical tours of the island are available through Dildo Island Adventure Tours. Artifacts are displayed at the Interpretation Centre

Bacon Cove, Conception Harbour has a site that is of great interest to geologists. A particularly good example of unconformity between Late Proterozoic and Cambrian rocks is exposed, representing an interval of about 100 million years.

Manuels River Linear Park Fossil beds make the Manuels River one of the most geologically significant areas in North America. Avondale - Avondale Railway & Community Museums - Old Railway Station, Tel: 368-8268. The building itself, over 100 years old, has been declared a Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of NL. A five-car static train display contains an operating dining and cook car. A mini-train is also in operation, offering visitors the chance to ride over the old narrow gauge track. Community Museum has artifacts of the fishing & agricultural community.

Bay de Verde - Bay De Verde Heritage House and Story Board - 7 Blundon's Point, Tel: 587-2766. Exhibits showcase the difference between the lifestyles of the mercantile and fishing classes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Also, has a display on the Baccalieu Island Ecological Reserve.

Brigus - Hawthorne Cottage National Historic Site Irishtown Road, Tel: 528-4004. Hawthorne Cottage is the home of Captain Robert Bartlett. Born in 1875, the famous arctic explorer was involved in Peary's North Pole expeditions and commanded the Karluk in the Canadian Arctic Expedition (1913-14). Both the historical significance of Bartlett's work and the architectural quality of Hawthorne Cottage have been recognized by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. Bell Island - Community Museum and #2 Mine Tour. 1 Compressor Hill, Tel: 488-2880 The #2 Mine site was the deepest submarine mine in the world and is a first class underground tour facility. The museum consists of two parts. First there is the Museum itself, which opened in the summer of 2000. It displays many of the artifacts from the Islands mining past. On the walls the history is told in pictures. Of particular note is the display of work by renown photographer Yousuf Karsh. The second part involves a walking tour of the underground shafts. Clarke's Beach Lewis Roberts Artistic Electronic Creations, Museum, and Repairs is a unique experience. Contains a replica of a royal glass coach complete with miniatures of people, a miniature railway, and historic photos of Bareneed.
